Course 3: Empirical Methods for Scientific Research (optional)
Modules Aim
- This module focuses on mathematics, statistics, resp. econometrics.
- You will learn about advanced methods of mathematical analysis.
- You will know how laboratory and field experiments are built up.
- This module will prepare you to use advanced empirical methods for your research.
Content
Empirical Methods for Scientific Research
- Advanced Regression Modelling.
- Applied Empirical Modeling of Nonlinearity and Endogeneity in Regression Models.
- Experiments.
- Qualitative Research Methods.
Indicative Module Content
Especially in the research fields of finance or marketing, you need to know how empirical methods work and how to apply them. In your former bachelor’s or master’s studies, you will have learned some basics. For challenging research, it is necessary to use more sophisticated models. That’s why we offer you an optional module where you will learn how to use advanced empirical methods for your research on the highest possible level.
Summary of Course 3
Empirical Methods for Scientific Research
This optional module trains the researchers to get a deep insight into empirical methods like advanced regression modelling, applied empirical modelling of nonlinearity and endogeneity in regression models, experiments or qualitative research methods for challenging research.
Course 3 Assessment
Prepare for a 30-minute speech about a special empirical topic. Following your speech, you will discuss its content with one or more examiners for about 30 minutes.
